Short answer. Long described as a Hispano-Muslim garden, the Jardín Nazarí dates mostly from the 16th century: an adaptation of earlier orchards that kept the Arab irrigation system.

History

Studies carried out in 1995 showed that both the garden and the buildings that remain are 16th-century works, created by adapting existing orchards while keeping their Arab water system. The estate was a pleasure garden, enclosed by a wall on every side except the one overlooking the natural gorge.
